Eating Out

A pub; an art gallery & tea room; a local shop and a café on the slipway, all within a few minutes’ walk of The Old Vicarage can satisfy most appetites but for an even greater choice Rye town (2 miles) has a wide variety of restaurants to suit all tastes.

Within easy walking distance from The Old Vicarage at Rye Harbour, The William the Conqueror (Shepherd Neame) serves Greek inspired lunch and dinner every day (closed Sunday evenings). If you haven’t visited for a few years it has had a ‘makeover’ and now has a comfortable ‘nautical’ feel interior.

The Bosuns Bite café is opposite the Lifeboat House and is open daily to eat in or take away.

On a Tuesday evening an excellent Fish and Chip van visits the Harbour, arriving at 7pm (staying just 30 minutes) and serving the best fresh fish and chips. Bring them back and eat in the dining room or eat them in the traditional way, out of the paper, by the harbour.
